How To Lose Weight With The Zone Lifestyle Weight Loss Plan

by Alan B. Densky, CH

The Zone diet is a weight loss program that monitors calorie intake and physical exercise to deliver results. It is a lifestyle diet plan to get people to shed weight and become physically fit. The key part of this diet program is the set of eating guidelines developed by the biochemist, Dr. Barry Sears.

The reasoning behind the diet looks at the impact of carbohydrates on the body's insulin levels. Consuming too many carbs causes blood sugar levels to spike, which prompts the body to secrete insulin, a hormone that lowers blood sugar levels by storing the sugar as fat. It is thought that by consuming the right foods, blood sugar levels can be regulated to keep insulin levels in "the zone," a range where the body burns more fat and stops storing excessive fat.

The diet plan balances carbohydrate and protein consumption in a three to four ratio, meaning 40% of your calories will come from carbohydrates and 30% from protein (another 30% typically comes from fat). It is crucial to monitor calories on the Zone plan, with most meals under five hundred calories each and snacks around one hundred calories each.

Under the eating plan, you eat five times each day (three meals and two snacks), never letting more than five hours pass without eating. If you get eight hours of sleep every night, this means eating breakfast within one hour of waking up, lunch within five hours after breakfast, a snack within five hours after your lunch, dinner within two to three hours of your snack, and a late night snack just before bed.

The majority of foods consumed on the Zone diet plan include lean cuts of meat, such as chicken or fish and other healthy sources of protein, plenty of vegetables and fruits, and a limited amount of carbs. Potatoes, breads, rice, sugar, and cereals are the types of carb heavy foods that dieters are to avoid eating, but can enjoy occasionally. Dieters must also avoid pre-packaged foods and high sodium foods.

Physical health is another important component of the Zone diet. The diet suggests moderate intensity exercise for thirty minutes per day, six days per week. Exercise is supposed to raise the effectiveness of the Zone plan. Other enhancements to the diet include taking nutritional supplements and vitamins.

The Zone diet works well for many people trying to lose weight, but it requires a big commitment. The reason why this program and most other diet plans fail to work is because many dieters stop before they are able to see improvement. Many people fight to stay on any type of diet program because of food cravings, uncontrollable appetites or eating habits, or a simple lack the motivation to lose weight. Hypnotherapy is perfect for solving these problems and providing the motivation to stay committed to a diet such as the Zone diet program.

Hypnosis is commonly used in combination with dieting because it does a lot to increase the effectiveness and success rate of weight loss programs. One thing that hypnosis programs do is help promote positive thinking, especially to counter negative thoughts. Hypnosis is a powerful stress-relieving tool as well, helping us cope with our stressful emotions and relieve tension. As a stress-relieving tool, it eases the mind, helps you come up with strategies to cope with stress, and increases your self-confidence to motivate you to shed weight.

Weight loss hypnotherapy can also be used to directly treat the mental obstacles that keep people from losing weight. Take for instance dieters who can't curb their cravings and appetite because they fight with "emotional eating." People who experience emotional eating compulsively eat in response to their emotions, such as when they are sad or depressed. A good hypnosis CD program can break the associations in our unconscious minds between eating and our emotions. This way, people are freed of their compulsive eating habits and able to stay committed to complex weight loss programs such as the Zone diet program.

Motivational hypnotherapy has become a popular and effective technique to use with weight loss programs because motivation is the key to success for most dieters. Hypnotherapy programs tap into the power of the unconscious mind to naturally focus our thoughts on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These programs help dieters explore their reasons for wanting to diet and exercise so dieters automatically feel motivated to stick with their diet.

Hypnotherapy is a motivational tool that works to help you "stay in the zone," get physically fit, and experience natural appetite suppression without drugs. Through using hypnosis, we can think more positively and focus on having better health.
