Overcome The Depression That Accompanies Heart Failure
Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is among the most common chronic health conditions in the United States. Nearly five million people cope with this disease, and half a million others develop CHF each year. This disease may be slightly problematic, or it may become quite severe and impair daily living.
People with CHF undergo numerous changes from their previous daily routines. They must take medicines to relieve water buildup and to decrease the exertion of their heart tissue. Some of these result in anxiety and exhaustion. These drugs may also hinder physical intimacy with a spouse or significant other.
One other struggle that persons with this condition face is the requirement for major diet adjustments. Many must quit eating red meat, avoid meals high in fat or salt, or restrict the quantity of fluids they drink each day. They are instructed to lose weight and work to keep their bodies as fit as possible.
Unfortunately, however, people with congestive heart failure no longer possess as much energy for physical activity as before. Instead, they must watch as friends and relatives play volleyball, run, or work out. This leads to isolation and inadequacy. Moreover, many people grieve losing of physical strength and wellness.
The majority of people who experience this but have not yet reached retirement age must also quit working. In addition to causing financial stress and anxiety, this can increase feelings of isolation and loneliness. They are completely alone. Instead of bantering with the colleague at the neighboring workspace, they stare at the television while their friends continue living.
Occasionally, patients take anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medicines to manage these issues. Others opt for psychotherapy or group therapy to assist them with fulfilling belongingness needs and processing the grief created by their newly restricted lifestyles.
A better method of managing this type of depression, however, has achieved recent recognition and gained practically instant popularity among patients who have trialed it. Additionally, unlike medicines or counseling therapies, this technique is quite inexpensive. People are able to learn to use it without experiencing additional money stresses.
This approach, which utilizes a blend of Ericksonian hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), assists people to begin to relax and find harmony and serenity in the midst of daily life. These therapies help clients to acknowledge the new restrictions of life with CHF while encouraging them to continue living life as completely as possible. Even depressed moods that result from medication can be painlessly treated with the proper use of the techniques utilized by hypnosis and NLP. Two such strategies are anchoring and the Flash.
Ericksonian Hypnosis is often referred to as conversational hypnosis. It includes techniques for providing post-hypnotic suggestions rooted in a conversation or figure of speech. The positive aspect of this technique is that it removes the subconscious opposition to direct suggestions that is almost always encountered when using more traditional forms of hypnotherapy.
With anchoring, hypnotists and NLP Practitioners instruct people to focus on positive thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt calm and capable. As the individual becomes immersed in these memories, they are able to re-experience those positive feelings. The person then creates a physical anchor for these emotions by placing two fingers together. The unconscious mind creates a link between the physical touch of these two fingers, and the good emotions. Afterward, when the client encounters a stressful or upsetting moment, an anchor is elicited by placing together these same two fingers, re-creating feelings of peacefulness and calm.
The Flash technique is also quite helpful to people who are trying to conquer depression. This approach programs the mind to automatically use those destructive thoughts that are causing stress and depression, as triggers for positive thoughts that will create calm and tranquility. Over time, people usually become almost unable to think negative thoughts!
Summary: People with congestive heart failure often experience depression because of mourning the loss of their physical healthiness and well-being. Other components that sometimes contribute to depression are medicines and money worries. Both Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP provide excellent techniques for helping people to deal with depression without being forced to spend enormous quantities of time and money.
